Mountain Biking
Bikes cycling biking cyclist club british association

Mountain biking is a type of cycling which uses strengthened bicycles with (usually) straight handlebars and wide tires. Mountain biking is an off-road discipline. It can be enjoyed recreationally, and raced competitively .

The focus of mountain biking is much more on the equipment, material and design; where there has always been a fascination with technology.

There are several basic kinds of mountain biking:

Cross-country - (XC) cross-country racing is held on a circuit, normally 6-8 km around.

Downhill - (DH) downhill racing is a time trial event.

Dual Slalom - (DS) this ski-inspired event pits two riders against each other on the same course, and the first across the line wins.

Four Cross - (4X) inspired by the dual-slalom format and by BMX racing, this event pits 4 riders on the same course from starting gates to finish.
